Southwest Florida's leading neurology practice is recruiting for BE/BC neurologists, fellowship is desirable but not essential. The practice needs are for both inpatient and outpatient care but flexible based on the applicant’s interests. This can be a partnership track or employment. Night and weekend call would vary depending on the goals and interest of the applicant.

Medical Assistant

Fort Myers Office

 

The Medical Assistant helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance by preparing charts for scheduled appointments; preparing patients for examination and treatment; and obtaining and recording patient histories and vital signs. This person will maintain accurate and complete documentation of the patient’s EMR chart maintaining strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance.  They prepare the exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and may assist the physician in the exam rooms and during special procedures when requested.  Previous EEG and/or EMG experience preferred.

 

Other duties may include reviewing the next day’s scheduled appointments for any add ons or cancellations for chart preparation; maintaining the housekeeping of the exam rooms and physician offices; ensuring medical equipment and instruments to be clean and functional at all times. Provides excellent customer service including informing patients in the exam rooms and lobby when the physician is behind schedule.

 

The Medical Assistant monitors Medical Records Faxes in Outlook for incoming records pertaining to chart prep; prints and processes encounter forms for next day’s scheduled patients for review by the billing department; orders and maintains inventory of all medical supplies and equipment as assigned; maintains bio hazardous waste supplies and disposal as assigned; orders and maintains inventory of medical supplies and injectable medications as assigned.

 

This person may be scheduled to cover at remote sites in Barkley and Cape Coral as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Must have current Medical Assistant certification

  • Minimum of 1 year medical assisting experience

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Experience with medical records; Previous EHR experience, Epic a plus

  • Previous EMG and/or EEG preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.

  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Skills include assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed and in taking vital signs; skill in maintaining records and recording test results.

  • Skill in developing effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.

  • Ability to work independently and work effectively as a team contributor on day to day assignments

  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize work during heavy workload situations

  • Proficient in Windows environment and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
